Grodan opens its first production facility in Russia
ELABUGA, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia - Today Grodan, part of the ROCKWOOL Group, world leader in stone wool growing media solutions, announced the opening of a new production facility in Elabuga. In the presence of Aleksey Pesoshin, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, the production facility was opened by means of a symbolic ceremony.
After being present in the Russian market for more than 20 years Grodan opens its fourth facility worldwide where high-tech stone wool growing media, made of natural materials, are produced to supply the Russian vegetable growing and floriculture market. With a growing world population opting to eat more healthy food, the demand for fresh products increases, also in Russia. The Russian greenhouse market therefore requires innovative technologies. For almost 50 years Grodan supplies innovative and sustainable stone wool growing media and offers a unique service.
During his speech at the ceremony Aleksey Pesoshin, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, said: "The fact that Grodan localizes its production here in Tatarstan means there is huge potential in the Republic. The various representatives and guests here today form a good fundament to deal with their meaningful tasks for the development of the Russian society. I am convinced the solutions produced here will increasingly supply a growing demand for high-tech growing solutions.”
Hub Janssen, Managing Director of Grodan, highlighted the major significance of the event: “We are very proud that we are on the big and important Russian market with our experience and know-how. In a world where the population is growing, where natural resources are running out and consumers are demanding more fresh products, our solutions enable the most sustainable indoor growing practice to serve people’s health and wellbeing.”
With the opening of the factory in Elabuga the high-tech horticulture market is well equipped to support the further growth of the vegetable growing and floriculture market in Russia.
The factory was officially opened by pouring water onto plants in a stone wool slab.
