Grodan scores with Ecolabel
In 2008, Grodan became the first substrate producer to be awarded the European Eco-label: the only European environment-friendly label for non-food products. The certification has been well received.
Users of Grodan substrate solutions have indicated that they are pleased with the label, because it gives them security – the security of knowing that they have made an ecologically sound choice. Their own customers, consumers, are satisfied too. They also value sustainably grown produce.
In order to be allowed to carry the European Eco-label, the growing media used have to comply with a great many criteria. There are strict requirements for provenance, manufacture and recycling and quality. Moreover, Grodan has not received the certificate 'for life'. The EU periodically checks whether products are still meeting the conditions. This offers additional security.
