Grodan present at the Tuinbouw Relatiedagen
On 9, 10 and 11 February the trade exhibition Tuinbouw Relatiedagen was held in Evenementenhal Gorinchem. This is the meeting point for entrepreneurs and business relations in the horticultural sector. Visitors from the horticulture, floriculture, tree nursery and bulb-growing industry exchange information, meet new business relations and get new ideas in an informal atmosphere. Grodan was one of the exhibitors (stand 515). Up to 18.920 people visited the exhibition.

Horticulture 2.0 has the future
On 19 November, Grodan, supplier of innovative substrate solutions for greenhouse horticulture, organised a broadly-based symposium entitled ‘Modern solutions for modern challenges’. During this symposium, about high-tech horticulture prospects for the next five years, the contours of Horticulture 2.0 were outlined. This is a concept which is based on two pillars: precision growing and route-2-market.

Director Marketing certified EMP
Vincent Deenen, Marketing Director Grodan, was certified EMP (Expert Marketing Professional) on Friday 30 October 2009. The title is an official quality standard to indentify highly skilled marketing professionals. The certification is internationally recognized and issued by the EMCF (European Marketing Certification Foundation). In the Netherlands, currently 81 top marketers have this personal certification.

Grodan has introduced a new stone wool slab onto the market: the Grotop Master Dry. Thanks to the patented Next Generation Technology and coarser fibrous structure, this advanced dual-layer slab, with its firmer upper layer and porous lower layer, offers considerable advantages over its predecessor, the successful Grodan Master Dry.

DKG Ltd to become independent Grodan partner
DKG Ltd, a specialist in cultivation advice and for many years an important partner for Grodan, the supplier of innovative substrate solutions for greenhouse horticulture, will be taking on the additional role of sales organisation and exclusive outsourcing partner for Greece, Cyprus, the Balkan countries and Egypt with effect from 1 January 2009. The company expects to be able to provide buyers of Grodan products with an even better service through the expansion of its range of tasks.

Grodan introduces new Grodan Vital slab
Grodan has introduced the new Grodan Vital slab. This advanced slab produced on the basis of the pioneering Next Generation technology offers important advantages in comparison with traditional slabs, such as simpler irrigation management, a safer water buffer, improved re-saturation and quicker root establishment. Grodan awarded with European Ecolabel
Grodan, supplier of innovative substrate solutions for the greenhouse industry, is the first substrate producer that has been rewarded with the European Ecolabel: the environmental quality mark of the European Union for non-food products and services. The fact that Grodan’s blocks and slabs have been awarded this quality mark once again demonstrates that Grodan considers sustainable business practices to be very important and that its substrate solutions comply with the most stringent environmental criteria. These certified products can be recognised by the ‘EU flower’ logo.

Agro Dynamics Inc. continues as Grodan Inc.
Grodan has taken a new strategic decision by transforming its American subsidiary company, distributor Agro Dynamics Inc., into Grodan Inc. As of October 1st 2007, Grodan Inc. will fully focus on the sales of Grodan substrates in North America.

Vincent Deenen new Director Marketing & Public Affairs
Vincent Deenen (40) has been appointed Director Marketing and Public Affairs for the Grodan Group. As of October 1st 2007 he will succeed Hub Janssen who took up the position of Director Business Unit Western Europe at the beginning of the year. Vincent’s international, commercial and horticultural background will be an asset to build further on the marketing of Grodan’s solutions to the professional greenhouse industry worldwide.

Grodan introduces improved Grotop slabs
Grodan has introduced an improved line of Grotop slabs under the ‘Next Generation’ brand name. The major benefits offered by these slabs are improved resaturation, rooting, uniformity, and an increased control range. Grodan’s introduction of these Next Generation slabs accommodates professional growers’ needs for crops of an optimum quality and quantity.

Introducing the Grodan 6-phase model
Increasing insight into cultivation expertise, developments in cultivation systems and enlargement of scale mean that the grower has an even greater need for a structured representation of crop information. This prompted Grodan to develop the Grodan 6-phase model, a categorisation of substrate-based cultivation into six cultivation phases, to be launched early this year.

Maurice Husson new Managing Director Grodan
As of January 1st 2007, Maurice Husson (41) will be the new Managing Director of the Grodan Group. He brings management and business expertise to the company, combined with technical knowledge. He has worked, amongst others, for several companies that are part of Grodan’s parent company Rockwool International. Maurice succeeds Nick Vince (51), who will take up the position of Managing Director of Rockwool in Russia.
