Rockwool’s structure: 
Rockwool encompasses seven autonomous operating companies, each with its individual specialization. All products manufactured by the individual companies are based on stone wool. 1) Grodan is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rockwool, and is focused on substrates for the professional horticultural sector. 2) Rockwool Lapinus Production: thermal, acoustic and fire-resistant insulation products for the construction industry, processing industry, and other professional markets, 3) Rockwool Benelux: thermal, acoustic and fire-resistant insulation products for the construction industry, 4) Rockwool Technical Insulation: engineering insulation products for the (petro)chemical industry, power stations, shipbuilding, industrial installations in buildings, and fire-resistant insulation products for buildings, 5) Rockwool Rockfon: aesthetic and acoustic ceiling products, 6) Rockwool Rockpanel: aesthetic and durable façade cladding, 7) Lapinus Fibres: high-quality stone wool fibres for engineering applications such as brake linings, gaskets, and plastics.

Financial data:
In FY 2006 Rockwool International A/S achieved a turnover in excess of 1,5 billion Euro. Rockwool International A/S is listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.

Markets:
Rockwool is a global company which serves a number of markets, including the construction industry. Grodan is active in more than 40 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Australasia, North America, and Mid America. Grodan focuses on the professional horticultural sector, inclusive of segments such as the cultivation of vegetables and flowers and plant nurseries. Grodan has offices in a number of countries, including the Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, the USA, and Poland.

Factories:
Rockwool has factories in 14 countries in Europe, North America, and Asia. Grodan has stone wool factories in the Netherlands (Roermond, the world’s largest stone wool factory), Denmark (Hedehusene), Spain (Caporosso) and Poland (Cigacice).

Employees: Rockwool has some 7,000 employees all over the world.

Certification:
Grodan has been awarded certification by agencies including Milieukeur (the ‘Ecolabel’, as the sole stone wool substrate supplier in the Netherlands and Belgium), ISO 9001 and 14001 (production), EMAS (European Community ECO Management and Audit Scheme), and KIWA (Dutch products).

Membership:
EurepGAP (Associated Member), IGPA (international Growing Media producers Association), CAS (Chambre Syndicale des Fabricants d’Amendements Organiques, de Supports de Culture et de leurs Dérivés).
