For firmer, more homogeneous slabs
A major step, at micro level
Grodan is launching a new generation of stone wool slabs, based on innovative Delta Technology. This innovation in the production process results in slabs that are perfectly homogeneous and firm. Consequently, cultivation can be steered accurately through water management. This gives you, the grower, even more control over your crops. All over the world, Grodan asked scientists and growers how stone wool substrate could be further improved to directly contribute to improved crop results.

Their answer was unanimous. The factors determining success are firmness and homogeneity in and between the substrate slabs.Armed with this knowledge, Grodan launched a completely new range of blocks in 2003 that were developed using new Delta product technology. This was a great success: the propagators considered this innovation to be a positive step forward. This inspired Grodan to apply this new technology to the production of slabs as well.

Optimum mass distribution
The adoption of Delta Technology has an effect on the fibrous structure of slabs. Improved mass  distribution results in optimum distribution between fibres and pores in the stone wool slab. This distribution of mass of the basic material ensures firmer, more uniform slabs. The mass distribution is decreased by as much as 30%.

On-line check
Measurements are taken every three seconds during the production process. If the stone wool values deviate from the norm, corrections are made automatically. This real-time on-line production check is unique and guarantees a consistent quality level.

Optimum mass distribution and firmness
The slabs are an average of 20% firmer. The so-called 'soft spots' in the stone wool have been reduced considerably. This is evident from the increased homogeneous water and EC distribution in the slabs, which will result in a positive effect on root distribution and crop rooting.

Improved distribution of water and nutrients
In addition to a healthier and stronger root system, uniform water distribution ensures faster response time. The slabs' response time is faster due to thoroughly even water distribution. This has become evident through more than 4,300 measurements that have been taken in the field, using various slab types used by sixteen growers.

Uniform water behaviour
Due to a lower Water Content variation within and between the slabs, the uniformity of the water content is improved during cultivation.
