In response to the emergence of what has become known as ‘pepper wilting’ in high-tech greenhouses, Grodan initiated and contributed to extensive international research to better understand the complex interaction between pathogen presence, plant stress and hygiene practices. Findings from this research indicate that the presence of oxidising agents, which are primarily applied for the control of biofilm within irrigation lines, may act both as a trigger and as a modifier of symptom expression.
The mid-year results from the low-energy tomato trial initiated by Grodan and Philips Horticulture LED Solutions indicate that not only cherry tomatoes, but also larger truss tomatoes can be grown successfully with reduced heat input in a full-LED setup. Importantly, another major goal of this trial is to demonstrate to growers of Macxize XR (Axia seeds) how blotchy ripening (green spots), a troublesome potential quality issue in this high-yielding variety, can be reduced by adjusting the nutrient balance – specifically the potassium and nitrogen ratios.
The first Asian Propagation Seminar (APS) took place on 19–20 November in Tokyo, bringing together leading propagation experts, equipment providers and hundreds of growers and propagators from across the Asia-Pacific region. The central takeaway: investments in modern propagation — from advanced substrates to automation and LEDs — deliver clear, measurable returns.
Brussels, Belgium, 20-11-2025 – Grodan recently hosted the stakeholder event “Advancing Water Resilience in Agriculture: Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future”, highlighting the growing importance of water resilience in agriculture.
Agriculture accounts for roughly 70 percent of global freshwater use, and extreme weather events—droughts, floods, and unpredictable rainfall—are putting even greater stress on the systems that feed us. Strengthening water resilience requires not just incremental efficiency gains, but a rethinking of how and where we grow crops.
Against the backdrop of the accelerating market transformation from low-tech to high-tech strawberry production, initial results from an innovative trial demonstrate the excellent compatibility between F1 hybrid strawberry seeds and Grodan stone wool solutions.
We are a global leader in the supply of innovative stone wool substrate solutions for the professional horticultural based on Precision Growing principles.
