Eric Lekkerkerk joins Grodan from Klasmann-Deilmann, one of the world’s leading suppliers of horticultural growing media, where he currently serves as Group Commercial Director and member of the Board of Directors.
Grodan is pleased to announce its participation as a main partner in the Leafy Hydroponics Consortium (LHC), an international, multi-year research initiative dedicated to advancing hydroponic greenhouse cultivation of leafy greens.
To help find a solution to the pepper wilting issue causing concern among high-tech growers in various parts of the world, Grodan has initiated and participated in extensive international research. The aim is to better understand the complex interaction between pathogen presence, plant stress and hygiene practices.
After more than 42 years within ROCKWOOL – including 30 years at Grodan and the last 14 years as Managing Director – Hub Janssen will step down from his role as Managing Director, effective 31 January 2026. In its second year, a trial from Grodan and Signify demonstrated it's possible to produce high-quality cherry tomatoes with significantly less heat input than previously thought, without compromising on quality and taste. Building on these results and a commitment to low energy growing, the partners are extending this year the trial at Botany to larger tomatoes on the vine.
